Una Low Emission Zone (LEZ)<\/strong> It is a defined urban area where access, circulation or parking of the most polluting vehicles is restricted.<\/p>\n

The objective is simple: to reduce polluting emissions, improve air quality, and protect public health.<\/p>\n

These zones are usually implemented in urban centres or high-traffic areas, where air pollution has a greater impact on citizens.<\/p>\n

In other words: if your car emits more, it will have more restrictions on driving.<\/p>\n

Why are low-emission zones mandatory in Spain?<\/span><\/h2>\n

The implementation of Low Emission Zones is regulated by Law 7\/2021 on Climate Change and Energy Transition.a<\/strong>, which requires them to be established in municipalities with over 50,000 inhabitants. This regulation is developed through Royal Decree 1052\/2022, which defines its minimum criteria.<\/p>\n
